Boyle Heights, California (December 4, 2020) – An elderly man on a seated scooter was hit and seriously injured by a hit-and-run driver on Friday morning in Boyle Heights, authorities said.
The major injury accident occurred at about 10:35 a.m. on Mott Street at Whittier Boulevard.
According to the police, the man was crossing the street on his seated scooter when a compact SUV struck him in unclear circumstances.
The SUV dragged the elderly man for half a block before the driver stopped, and a witness helped him dislodge the scooter from the vehicle. The involved driver then reentered the car and drove off, the officials said.

The elderly man was critically injured and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The involved driver fled the scene and is being sought by the police. The vehicle is described as a silver Mazda CX-5, and the driver is believed to be in his 40’s.
