Van Nuys, California (November 4, 2020) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by an Amtrak train Tuesday night in Van Nuys, according to authorities.

The deadly pedestrian crash happened at about 9:06 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, in the 15039 block of West Raymer Street.

Authorities said the pedestrian was walking in the area when he ended up on the railroad tracks and was hit by Amtrak Pacific Surfliner train No. 796.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene and declared the pedestrian dead at the scene. The name of the victim was withheld pending notification of family.

None of the passengers or crew members aboard the train were injured.

The accident remains under investigation.
