Dustin Ortiz Killed in Byron Truck Crash on Byron Highway near Holey Road
Byron, California (October 24, 2020) – The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office has identified the Galt man who died following a truck accident on a highway in Byron Thursday morning as a 35-year-old Dustin Ortiz.
The fatal traffic collision was reported shortly before 6:25 a.m., October 22, on Byron Highway.
The accident began when a big rig semi-truck operated by Ortiz along the highway veered off across the double-yellow lines for unknown reasons. The big rig then crashed with an F-150 pickup truck in the morning hours.
Due to the impact, Ortiz’s truck rolled over near the intersection of Holey and Bruns Road.

Sadly, Ortiz was pronounced deceased at the scene by the California Highway Patrol.
There were no other victims hurt, including the pickup operator.
