43-Year-Old Man Killed in Modesto Pedestrian Accident at 8th and L Streets Tuesday night

Modesto, California (September 2, 2020) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Tuesday night at an intersection in downtown Modesto, authorities said.
The deadly pedestrian accident occurred at the intersection of 8th and l streets on September 1.
According to the authorities, the pedestrian, a 43-year-old man, was walking across 8th Street and l Street inside a crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle.

First responders arrived at the scene and found the pedestrian lying down in the roadway. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. His name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The driver involved did not stop to render aid to the pedestrian and fled the scene. The suspect’s vehicle was described as a 1994 to 2004 dark green Chevy pickup truck or GMC pickup truck, with tinted windows and a metal toolbox rack in the back of it.
Police are still searching for the hit-and-run suspect.
