San Diego, California (August 11, 2020) – A 50-year-old woman was hit and killed by a vehicle on Saturday night near the Sycuan Casino Resort in San Diego, authorities said.

At about 9:10 a.m., on August 8, the California Highway Patrol responded to the deadly auto-pedestrian accident on Dehesa Road near Sycuan Road.

The CHP said the woman was walking in the eastbound lane of Dehesa Road when, for unknown reasons, she walked directly into traffic and was struck by a Toyota Corolla.

According to the officials, the Toyota, driven by a 64-year-old man, was also traveling eastbound on the roadway.

Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Dehesa Road in San Diego

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. It was not clear if she was intoxicated or not at the time of the accident.

The involved driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.

Traffic on the roadway was stopped for an unknown period due to the mishap.

More details about the accident were not immediately available.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
