Bakersfield, California (January 9, 2020) – The child who died following a multi-car crash that left five other people injured on Tuesday morning in Bakersfield has been identified as Emiliano Hernandez, 9, of Bakersfield, according to a local news source.
The accident happened on Cottonwood Road near East Pacheco Road at about 3:34 a.m. January 7, according to the California Highway Patrol.
32-year-old Evaristo Perez Nunez was driving a car on Cottonwood Road when he pulled out in front of another car and the two collided.
The authorities said a third vehicle was involved in the accident.
Emiliano Hernandez Dies in Bakersfield Traffic Accident
Four children and two adults were injured in the accident and were taken to a local hospital.
One of the children, later identified as Hernandez, reportedly died while undergoing treatment.
Nunez was arrested and booked into the Kern County jail on suspicion of felony hit-and-run causing serious injury.
The authorities are investigating the accident.
