Tehama County, California (January 9, 2020) – Mary Ann Griffin, 74, and 41-year-old Ronnie Allemand both of Corning were among victims injured in a traffic collision on Tuesday morning in Tehama County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The major-injury collision happened on Highway 99W at Gerber Road at around 7:51 a.m. January 7.

As per the CHP report, a 17-year-old Los Molinos boy was driving a 1990 Ford Mustang eastbound on Gerber Road when he pulled out into the path of a 2017 Ford E-450 TRAX (Tehama County) transit bus traveling northbound on Highway 99W.

The bus, driven by Steven Darrough, 68, of Red Bluff, crashed into the side of the Ford.

The driver of the Ford and a 14-year-old Gerber boy who was his passenger, were both ejected from the vehicle by the impact of the crash. The two were not wearing their seatbelts.

The older teen was transported to Mercy Medical Center and the other to St. Elizabeth Community Hospital. Both suffered major injuries in the crash.

Darrough and his three passengers, Griffin, Allemand, and Anthony Leon, 66, of Red Bluff, were all taken to Mercy Medical Center with minor-to-moderate injuries.

Due to the impact, the bus wound up in a nearby field while the Ford sustained major front-end damage.

The CHP is still investigating the accident.
