At Least 1 Killed, Several Injured in Highway 198 Truck Crash near Pine Valley Road
King City, California (November 4, 2019) – Authorities are investigating a fiery fatal car collision that occurred Sunday evening in King City.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the wreck took place at around 7:37 p.m. on eastbound Highway 198, just east of Pine Valley Road.
CHP said the crash involved a 4-door Chevrolet pickup truck and a 2-door Nissan or Toyota pickup truck.
The vehicles collided head-on for unknown reasons. The Chevrolet rolled over in the crash and caught fire. The truck was completely burned. A female party was trapped in the other vehicle, authorities said.
At least one person died in the accident. It was not clear if the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
At least four others sustained injuries, including one person who had a broken leg, a broken arm, and lacerations to the face, and another who had a hip injury.

Firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene to transport the victims to the hospital.
Officers said a strong odor of alcohol was coming from the occupants of the pickup truck that was on fire.
The crash also set the vegetation near the crash scene on fire.
The accident caused the closure of the highway for an unknown period.
CHP is investigating the cause of the collision.
