Sonoma County, California (November 4, 2019) – A firefighter was hospitalized with severe burns he sustained while battling a fire in Sonoma County last Sunday, according to the authorities.

The victim was injured as he was fighting the Kincade Fire on Sunday, October 27.

According to the report, Titan Cheatham of Klamath, an employee of Pacific Oasis Wildland Firefighting, was working the fire when the cap of a gas-powered chainsaw came loose.

Fuel from the chainsaw was splashed onto Cheatham’s clothes and caught fire.

Cheatham sustained second and third-degree burns and was transported to the burn center at the UC Davis Medical Center.

The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health is investigating the incident.
