27-Year-Old Man Killed in Elk Grove Crash on Interstate 5 near Elk Grove Boulevard
Elk Grove, California (October 4, 2019) – A 27-year-old man was killed in a crash involving a big rig on Thursday morning in Elk Grove, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The wreck happened at about 7:55 a.m. October 3, on Interstate 5 near Elk Grove Boulevard.
CHP said the man was driving a Prius northbound on I-5 when he crashed into the rear of a semi-truck that was stopped for traffic ahead. The Prius got lodged underneath the trailer of the big rig due to the crash.
Man Killed in Elk Grove Two-Vehicle Accident
The driver of the Prius was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.
No other injuries were reported.
Northbound I-5 was reduced to one lane as crews worked to clear the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
