Three Die, Two Hospitalized after Florence-Graham Crash at S Central Avenue and E Florence Avenue
Florence-Graham, California (April 12, 2021) – Three people were killed and two others were injured Sunday night in a three-vehicle crash in the Florence-Graham neighborhood of South Los Angeles, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly accident occurred shortly before 11:00 p.m. Sunday, April 11, at the intersection of S. Central Avenue and E. Florence Avenue.
A 2007 Toyota was traveling at a high rate of speed on the roadway when the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with a Jeep, the CHP report states. The Jeep then collided with a third vehicle.
As a result of the collision, the Toyota went out of control and crashed into a building and pole. The impact caused one of the passengers in the Toyota to be ejected from the vehicle.
The ejected person and two passengers in the rear seat in the Toyota were pronounced dead at the scene. The three passengers were described as male victims of age 23, 21, and 14.
Two other people sustained minor to moderate injuries and were transported to a local hospital. Their condition was not immediately disclosed.
Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the accident.
Authorities believed speed played a role in the accident. The Toyota driver, a 20-year-old Hawthorne man, was arrested in connection with the fatal South Los Angeles accident.
The accident remains under investigation.
