Woodland, California (March 31, 2019) – A teenager was arrested following a fatal crash suspected to have been caused by street-racing in Woodland Hills on Friday night, according to the authorities.

The wreck happened at about 10 p.m. March 29, in the 20100 block of Ventura Buolevard near Winnetka Avenue.

Authorities said a 2002 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck was making a turn from southbound Winnetka Avenue onto eastbound Ventura Boulevard when it was hit by a 2019 Mercedes-Benz C300 that was traveling at a high rate of speed westbound. The driver of the Mercedes, a 17-year-old boy, was allegedly operating the vehicle recklessly and blew the red light at the intersection leading to the collision.

The impact of the crash sent the Mercedes into the path of oncoming traffic and it collided with a Lexus SUV and a Ford SUV.

The man driving the Toyota, believed to be approximately 50 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene.

17-Year-Old Boy Arrested after Fatal Woodland Hills Crash

The 17-year-old driver and his passenger were transported to a hospital for treatment. One other person in the other two SUVs was treated for minor injuries.

Police said the teenage driver was arrested on suspicion of murder.

The incident remains under investigation.
