Carson, California (April 3, 2019) – One person was killed and another was injured in a traffic accident in Carson Monday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The deadly crash, which was reported at around 3:10 p.m. Monday, April 1, happened on the Gardena (91) Freeway at Avalon Boulevard.

The CHP said several vehicles collided for unknown reasons on the westbound side of the freeway. The force of the impact caused one of the cars involved to roll over.

According to the CHP, a female victim was pronounced dead at the scene. At least one other person was transported to a hospital in unknown condition.

The identities of the victims have not yet been disclosed.

The crash caused the closure of all westbound freeway lanes at Avalon Boulevard. Motorists were diverted at Central Avenue.

As of 7:00 p.m., all lanes were reopened.

The crash remains under investigation.
