Bakersfield, California (November 1, 2020) – A motorcyclist was killed in a collision in Northwest Bakersfield early Sunday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The accident happened at about 1:15 a.m. in the area of Santa Fe Way and Allen Road.

The authorities said a motorcycle was traveling northbound on Allen Road when the rider lost control and veered off the roadway.

The motorcycle crashed into a street sign and power pole, ejecting the rider.

The impact caused the power pole and the rider to catch fire.

The rider, who was identified only as a 30-year-old man, was killed in the accident.
