1 Killed in Anderson Bicycle Accident on Highway 273 near Thomas Road
Bicyclist Hit and Killed by Car on Highway 273 near Thomas Road in Anderson

Anderson, California (October 12, 2020) – A bicyclist died after being struck by a police car in Anderson on Sunday night.
The fatal bicycle accident happened at about 111 p.m. October 11, on Highway 273 near Thomas Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The person was riding a bicycle in the area when he was hit by a car driven by an officer driving an Anderson Police car.
The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The officer was unhurt.
An Anderson police sergeant responded to the incident to redirect traffic at the scene. A sedan that was traveling northbound on the highway crashed into the sergeant’s patrol car.
The sergeant suffered moderate injuries in the accident and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
The sedan driver was seriously injured in the accident and is being treated in the ICU.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
