1 Killed, Several Injured in 2-Vehicle Crash near Redwood Street and Valle Vista Avenue in Vallejo

Vallejo, California (September 1, 2019) – One person was killed and four others were injured Saturday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision in Vallejo, officials said.

The fatal crash was reported at about 12:34 p.m. Saturday, August 31 near Redwood Street and Valle Vista Avenue.

According to the authorities, a black 2005 Nissan Altima was traveling eastbound on Redwood Street when its driver tried to turn left onto Valle Vista in front of a 1999 gold Nissan Maxima that was heading westbound on Redwood approaching Valle Vista.

The black Nissan sustained major front end damage as a result of the crash.

Paramedics responded to the scene and performed CPR on a 33-year-old Vallejo woman who was a passenger in the black Nissan. Despite life-saving measures, the woman did not survive and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Two other male passengers in the black Nissan, believed to be in their 40s, were injured in the crash. One sustained a broken leg and the other had minor injuries.

The driver of the gold Nissan, a 23-year-old man, sustained minor injuries. The 23-year-old female passenger was uninjured.

According to the police, the driver of the black Nissan, also from Vallejo, attempted to flee near the Tuolumne Street and Panorama Drive. The motorist suffered a broken ankle and was taken into custody. The front passenger of the vehicle tried to get away on foot but was detained shortly after.

Drugs and alcohol were recovered in the black Nissan. Authorities said the driver of the black Nissan did not have a valid license.

The names of all parties involved have not been disclosed.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
