Man Killed, Another Hospitalized after Modoc County Plane Crash near Highway 395

Modoc County, California (June 20, 2021) – A man was killed and another was seriously injured when a small plane crashed Sunday morning in Modoc County, authorities said.
The crash was reported at around 9:08 a.m. near a ranch in Likely, a town which is approximately 15 miles south of Alturas on Highway 395.
The plane was taking off from a field at the ranch when it reportedly failed to get altitude and then went down.
Fatal Plane Crash near Likely in Modoc County
A 65-year-old Modoc County man, who was a passenger in the plane, died in the crash.
The pilot, also a 65-year old man from Alturas, Modoc County, was airlifted to Mercy Medical Center in Redding with major injuries.
The names of the two men aboard the plane have not been disclosed.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Modoc County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the accident.
