Sacramento County, California (September 18, 2019) – A 51-year-old man was killed and a 63-year-old woman was hospitalized Wednesday afternoon after a traffic accident in the Herald area of Sacramento County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The deadly crash happened at about 1:45 p.m. on Highway 104, west of Clay Station Road.

The CHP said the 51-year-old man was driving an Infiniti on Highway 104 when for an unknown reason, he allowed his vehicle to cross over double yellow lines and collided head-on with a Subaru that was driven by the 63-year-old woman.

The 51-year-old man died at the scene. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of family.

The 63-year-old woman sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a hospital.

Officers shut down the roadway as they investigated the accident and cleared the crash site.

It’s undetermined if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.

The crash remains under investigation.
