One Killed, One Injured in Ocotillo Crash on Interstate 8 at In-Ko-Pah Park Road
Ocotillo, California (November 9, 2020) – One person was killed and another was injured Sunday afternoon in a single-vehicle traffic collision in Ocotillo, according to a local news source.
The deadly accident occurred shortly after 9:30 p.m. Sunday, November 8, on Interstate 8 at In-Ko-Pah Park Road, the California Highway Patrol reported. Interstate 8, also known as Kumeyaay Highway.
The CHP said a 16-year-old boy was driving a Toyota Solera eastbound on Interstate 8 when he made an unsafe turn, and as a result, the vehicle veered off the roadway and overturned.
The force of the impact caused the driver to be ejected from the vehicle and landed on the ground. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 16-year-old passenger in the vehicle was transported to El Centro Regional Medical Center in unknown condition.
The names of the deceased and the injured parties have not been disclosed.
The accident remains under investigation.
