1 Dead, 3 Hurt in 2-Vehicle Accident on State Route 163 in San Diego
1 Killed and 3 Injured in San Diego Crash on State Route 163 (Cabrillo Highway) near Quince Street

San Diego, California (March 23, 2019) – One person was killed and three others were injured early Saturday morning in a two-car accident in Balboa Park, according to a local news source.
The tragic crash took place at about 2:30 a.m. on State Route 163, just south of the Quince Street overpass. State Route 163 is also known as Cabrillo Highway.
Fatal Balboa Park Two-Car Crash Saturday
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Mazda sedan was hit from behind by a Lexus sedan on the southbound lanes of State Route 163.
The impact force pushed both vehicles off the highway. One of the cars rolled down an embankment into a drainage ditch.
The CHP said a rear-seat passenger in the Mazda was declared dead at the scene. The other rear passenger in the Mazda thrown out of the vehicle and sustained major injuries.
Both drivers were treated for their injuries. The names of the deceased and injured parties have not been released.
It was undetermined if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the wreck. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
