Zachary Ortiz Killed in Head-On Crash on Highway 98 in Woodland

Woodland, California (March 26, 2019) – The Yolo County Coroner’s Office has identified the driver who was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Woodland, Yolo County, on Saturday night.

Zachary Ortiz, 32, of Woodland died in the head-on collision that occurred on Highway 98 near Highway 27 at about 8:20 p.m. March 23.

The CHP said Ortiz was driving a northbound Chevrolet when he veered into the opposite lanes and collided head-on with a Ford carrying five occupants.

Ortiz was killed in the collision.

The 17-year-old male driver of the Ford, a resident of Esparto, was seriously injured in the accident and was transported to Kaiser Vacaville for treatment. His four passengers, whose ages range between 16 and 18, were treated for minor injuries.

The CHP is working to determine the cause of the crash.
