Yolanda Gutierrez Among 3 Persons Killed in Shafter Car Accident at Poplar Avenue and Orange Street
Shafter, California (October 7, 2020) – The Kern County Sheriff’s Office has identified Yolanda Gutierrez, 19, Shafter, as one of the three parties who were killed in a traffic accident on Monday afternoon in Shafter.
The deadly two-car crash transpired at about 4:00 p.m., on October 5, at Poplar Avenue and Orange Street.
As per the California Highway Patrol report, an Infiniti sedan was driving southbound on Poplar Avenue towards the Orange Street intersection while a Chevy Impala was traveling westbound on Orange Street at high speeds.
The officials, the Impala, driven by Gutierrez, failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection and struck the Infiniti, driven by Juan Gabriel Luna Carranza, 27.

Carranza and his passenger, Ramon Suastegui Arreola, 27, both from Bakersfield, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Gutierrez was taken to Kern Medical, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
A 24-year-old passenger in the Impala was hospitalized with major injuries.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
