Woodland Man Killed, 2 Injured in Wrong-Way Crash on Interstate 5 in Sacramento
46-Year-Old Woodland Man Killed, Two Hospitalized after Sacramento Car Accident on Interstate 5 near Highway 99
Sacramento, California (August 31, 2020) – A wrong-way crash claimed the life of a man Saturday night in North Sacramento and left two other people injured, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly three-vehicle accident happened at around 11:52 p.m. Saturday, August 29, on Interstate 5 Freeway, just north of Highway 99.
The CHP said a 46-year-old Woodland man was driving a Honda Accord southbound in the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 when the Honda collided head-on with a Toyota Camry that was heading northbound.
After the impact, the Honda went airborne, and the left portion of the Honda collided with a northbound Volvo D13.

The driver of the Honda died at the scene. His name was withheld pending notification of family.
The driver of the Toyota Camry, a Sacramento man, suffered major injuries and was taken to a local hospital. The Volvo driver, a 38-year-old man from Moore, Idaho, was hospitalized with minor injuries.
Motorists were being diverted from Interstate 5 northbound to State Route 99 northbound for nearly 2 1/2 hours as the authorities conducted the investigation.
