Woodland, California (October 11, 2019) – A pedestrian was struck and injured by a vehicle Thursday morning at an intersection in Woodland, authorities said.

The pedestrian accident happened at about  9:13 a.m.Thursday, October 10 at the intersection of Sixth and Main streets, in front of the Yolo Superior Court.

According to the authorities, the pedestrian was crossing the woodland intersection inside the crosswalk when they were hit by a vehicle. The driver failed to yield to the pedestrian before hitting them.

The unidentified pedestrian sustained major injuries and was taken to UC Davis Med Center. The current condition of the victim at this time were not immediately available.

The authorities said the driver involved remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The motorist was charged for failing to yield to the pedestrian.

Alcohol or drugs were not considered factors in the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
