Woman Hit and Killed by Car on Highway 99 near Sultana Drive in Merced
Merced, California (August 5, 2020) – A woman died after being struck by a car on Highway 99 in Merced on Wednesday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at about 12:30 a.m. on Highway 99 between Sultana Drive and Westside Boulevard.
A woman is reported to have been driving her car on Highway 99 when she stopped on the side of the freeway and exited the vehicle. The unidentified woman was then struck by a passing Toyota SUV.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
A witness told the authorities that the woman was running across the freeway to pick an object that had rolled out of her vehicle when she was struck.
The driver of the Toyota remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.
No additional information was provided.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
