Woman Killed in Santa Cruz Car Crash on Highway 17 near El Rancho Drive
Santa Cruz, California (January 11, 2021) – A woman died after a vehicle she was riding crashed off the roadway in Santa Cruz County on Sunday night.
According to a report by the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened on Highway 17 near El Rancho Drive at about 9:45 p.m. January 10.
A resident in the 1300 block of El Rancho Drive reported hearing a loud crash in the area.
The authorities who responded to the incident found a “very mangled” Volkswagen on its roof off the roadway.
A female passenger in the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
The male driver was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
No additional information was provided.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
