Pedestrian Dies in Fresno Train Collision near East and Butler Avenues

Fresno, California (February 20, 2020) – A woman was on Tuesday evening struck and killed by a train in Fresno, according to the Fresno Police Department.

The incident happened just after 5 p.m. February 18, near East and Butler avenues.

Fresno police said the woman was walking along the tracks when she was hit by a train traveling below the speed limit.

Emergency crews responded to the incident and performed CPR on the victim. She was then transported to Community Regional Medical Center with head injuries and was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The woman’s name was not immediately released by the police.

The conductor of the train stopped at the scene after the accident.

The crash caused a major traffic backup near the location of the crash.

The Fresno police are conducting an investigation into the incident.
