William Argueta Killed in Car Crash at Merced and Poplar Avenues in Shafter
William Argueta ID’d as Man Killed in Shafter Accident at Merced and Poplar Avenues
Shafter, California (December 8, 2020) – William Alfonso Argueta, 31, of Shafter, has been identified as the man who died following a traffic accident Sunday afternoon in Shafter.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly accident happened at about 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 6, at the intersection of Merced Avenue and Poplar Avenue.
Argueta was driving northbound on Poplar Avenue when he lost control of his 2008 Honda near the intersection with Merced Avenue, the CHP said. The Honda then veered off the roadway and struck the trees.
Deadly Crash at Merced and Poplar Avenues
Argueta died in the accident.
Authorities believe alcohol played a role in the accident.
Further details regarding the accident were not immediately available.
The crash remains under investigation.
