Westlake, California (May 12, 2021) – A pedestrian died after being struck by a train Wednesday morning in Westlake, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The accident was reported at around 10:47 a.m. in the 662 block of South Alvarado Street.

Authorities said the pedestrian was hit by the train for unknown reasons on the tracks.

Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and found the person underneath the train.  The victim was then taken to a local hospital and was later pronounced.

Further details about the crash were not immediately provided.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
