38-Year-Old Waterford Man Dies in Merced County Motorcycle Accident on West Bradbury Road at Merced Avenue

Merced County, California (July 15, 2020) – A motorcyclist was killed Tuesday evening in a traffic accident at an intersection in Merced County northwest of Delhi, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The deadly collision took place at around 5:22 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, at the intersection of West Bradbury Road and Merced Avenue.
According to the CHP report, a 38-year-old Waterford man was riding his Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle westbound on West Bradbury Road at approximately 55 miles per hour, towards Merced Avenue while a Ford Escape SUV, driven by Ralph Saxton, 51, of Modesto, was heading eastbound on West Bradbury Road at about 55 miles per hour.
Saxton reportedly made a left turn directly in front of the motorcyclist. The Ford eventually collided with the motorcycle.
As a result of the collision, the Ford flipped and landed on its roof.

Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and found the motorcyclist unresponsive in the roadway.
Paramedics performed CPR on the motorcycle rider. Despite life-saving measures, the victim did not survive his injuries and was declared dead at the scene. His was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision
Saxton was uninjured in the crash, remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigators. Intoxication was not believed to have been a factor in the crash.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
