Vincent Marketta Among 2 Soldiers Killed in San Diego County Helicopter Crash on San Clemente Island

San Diego County, California (August 29, 2020) – Sgt. Vincent P. Marketta, 33, of Brick, New Jersey, has been identified as one of the two soldiers who were killed in a military helicopter crash that left three others injured on Thursday evening in San Diego County, according to the U.S. Special Operations Command office.
The deadly accident transpired at about 7: 46 p.m., on August 27, on San Clemente Island, which is about 70 miles west of Coronado.
According to the officials, U.S. Army Special Operations Command was conducting aviation training in the area when a black hawk helicopter crashed.
Marketta and Sgt. Tyler M. Shelton, 22, of San Bernardino were pronounced dead at the scene.
Three other soldiers were transported to Scripps La Jolla in unknown conditions.
More details about the accident were not immediately available.
The crash remains under investigation.
