Van Nuys, California (September 12, 2020) – Two people were killed in a plane crash on Friday afternoon in Van Nuys, authorities said.

The deadly plane crash happened at about 3:04 p.m., on September 11, in a parking lot in the 6900 block of North Hayvenhurst Avenue.

A witness told the police that the aircraft did a steep climb, stalled, and then nose-dived into the ground.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the single-engine Navion B plane took off from Van Nuys Airport and was headed for Santa Ynez Airport in Santa Barbara County.

First responders arrived at the scene and contained a fire that started due to the crash impact.

Two people were injured in the accident. It was not clear if the victims were on the plane or the ground.
