Woman Killed in Valencia Bicycle Crash near Rye Canyon Road and Beale Court

Valencia, California (May 20, 2019) – A woman was struck and killed by a vehicle near an intersection in Valencia early Sunday morning, according to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
The crash was reported at about 12:15 a.m. May 19, near Rye Canyon Road and Beale Court.
Deputies said a street sweeper traveling on the roadway hit a bicycle rider that was riding along the side.

The victim was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.
The identity of the victim was not immediately released.
The involved driver remained at the scene after the incident.
Deputies said alcohol and drugs did not appear to have played a role.
The investigation is ongoing.
