Update: Suspect Arrested in Hit-and-Run Crash That Killed Two in Palmdale

Palmdale, California (June 30, 2021) – Authorities have arrested a suspect involved in a hit-and-run accident that left two people dead earlier this month in Palmdale.

The deadly accident occurred at about 12:30 a.m., on June 9, on Rancho Vista Boulevard near 11th Street West.

According to the officials, a Dodge Challenger, driven by Jamaal Tyree Madden, 18, was traveling westbound on Rancho Vista Boulevard when it rear-ended a Toyota Corolla, operated by Lesther Deleon, 37.

After the impact, Deleon lost control of his car, which crashed into a light pole and rolled over. It then burst into flames.

Deleon was ejected while his passenger, Spechelle Pope, 28, was pinned inside the vehicle. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

Madden abandoned the vehicle at the scene and entered a dark blue Infiniti that left the scene before authorities arrived.

On Tuesday afternoon, Madden was arrested in connection with the deadly crash.

Further details regarding the mishap were not immediately available.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
