Unborn Child Killed, Mother Injured in Marysville Crash on Hammonton Smartville Road near Happy Way
Marysville, California (February 23, 2021) – Authorities are investigating a Tuesday morning head-on collision that killed an unborn infant and left a mother injured in Marysville.
The deadly accident occurred on Hammonton Smartville Road, east of Happy Way.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by Anthony Smith, 44, of Marysville, veered into the westbound lane where it collided head-on with a 2005 Toyota 4Runner operated by Robbi Megazzi, 32, of Marysville.

Sadly, Megazzi was pregnant, and her unborn child received fatal injuries. The unborn child was pronounced dead at Rideout Medical Center. Megazzi received internal bleeding in her chest.
Smith sustained a fracture to his right leg. The CHP arrested him for suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
