Pinole, California (December 17, 2019) – The authorities have disclosed the identities of two people who were killed in a wrong-way car crash on Monday night in Pinole.

According to a local news source, the fatal car accident happened on Interstate 80 Freeway near Appian Way at about 11:40 p.m. December 16.

The California Highway Patrol said 52-year-old Tyra Chappell of American Canyon and 76-year-old Frederic Chappell of Vallejo were traveling in their 2000 Toyota pickup when they were hit by a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer that was traveling the wrong way.

Tyra and Frederic were killed in the accident.

The unidentified driver of the Trailblazer was hospitalized in unknown condition.

No other information was provided.

An investigation to determine the cause of the accident is ongoing.
