59-Year-Old Pixley Man Dies in Tulare County Crash on Highway 99 near Avenue 76
Tulare County, California (March 13, 2019) – A man from Pixley was fatally hit by a vehicle early Wednesday morning in Tulare County, according to the CHP.
The crash was reported shortly after midnight on Highway 99 between Avenues 76 and 72.
CHP said a Clovis woman was driving a 2015 Honda northbound on Highway 99 when she spotted a pedestrian who was crossing the median and attempted to cross the lanes of traffic eastbound.
Pixley Man Killed in Tulare County Pedestrian Crash
The driver tried to swerve and applied her brakes to avoid the pedestrian but was unsuccessful.
The victim, a 59-year-old Pixley man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Honda was not injured.
Traffic on Highway 99 was diverted at Avenue 72 as the scene was examined.
The CHP is investigating the incident.
