Tulare County, California (May 19, 2020) – Two people were killed and another was critically injured Tuesday morning in a traffic accident in Tulare County, according to California Highway Patrol.

The fatal crash occurred at about 7:30 a.m. at Road 328 and Road 8o.

A 2010 Prius, driven by a 20-year-old man, was traveling southbound on Road 80 toward Visalia at a high rate of speed when it rear-ended a commercial farming truck that was making a lane change.

The driver of the Prius was transported to Kaweah Delta Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries. A 17-year-old girl who was riding as a passenger in the Prius was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second passenger in the Prius, an 18-year-old, was also taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center with critical injuries.

Marijuana plants were scattered across the scene of the crash and a loaded gun was recovered inside the car.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
