El Cerrito, California (March 9, 2021) – Tu Hoang Lam, 47, was seriously injured Sunday afternoon in a hit-and-run accident in El Cerrito, according to a local news source.

The major injury collision occurred at about 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 7, at the Food 4 Less parking lot on University Avenue, just west of College Avenue

According to the police, Lam was buckling his 7-year-old son onto a car seat when a vehicle heading westbound through the parking lot drifted to the left and struck him.

Lam was pinned against his 2017 Toyota Corolla. The impact sent the Corolla into another parked vehicle.

Lam was transported to a hospital with major injuries. The son was not injured.

The driver of the vehicle involved did not stop to render aid to Lam and fled the scene. There was no description of the suspect’s vehicle or driver.

Authorities are still searching for the hit-and-run driver.
