Goleta, California (November 18, 2020) – Authorities have identified the pedestrian who died after being struck by a vehicle Friday night in Goleta as Travis Gottlob, 45, of Santa Barbara.

The deadly pedestrian accident happened at about 8:36 p.m. Friday, November 13, in the 6800 block of Cathedral Oaks Road, between near Los Carneros Road and Glen Annie Road.

Authorities said a Mazda Miata was heading westbound on Cathedral Oaks Road when, for an unknown reason, it hit Gottlob, who was walking within the lane of traffic.

Goleta Fatal Pedestrian Collision on Cathedral Oaks Road

Paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced Gottlob dead.

The driver of the Mazda, a 23-year-old resident of Goleta, stopped at the scene and cooperated with the police. Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the accident.

Cathedral Oaks Road was shut down for several hours while the investigation took place.
