One Dies, Two Hospitalized after Tracy Crash on Interstate 205 near 11th Street Off-Ramp
Tracy, California (March 21, 2021) – A four-vehicle accident has claimed the life of one person early Sunday morning in Tracy and left two other people seriously injured, the California Highway Patrol said.
The deadly crash, which involved four vehicles, was reported to the CHP at about 1:40 a.m. on Interstate 205 near the 11th Street exit.
According to the CHP, a vehicle was traveling on Interstate 205 when it attempted to make a turn on the roadway.
The driver then overcorrected, and the vehicle rolled over. The car became disabled in the No. 2 and 3 lanes facing south, authorities said.
As the vehicle was overturning, the driver and two passengers were thrown from the car, according to the CHP.
Moments later, another vehicle slammed into the first disabled vehicle. A third vehicle then struck one of the passengers who were in the roadway.
A fourth vehicle was unable to stop in time and eventually crashed into the second vehicle.
Deadly Multi-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 205 in Tracy
The driver and passenger of the first vehicle suffered major injuries and were transported to a hospital. The second passenger, whose name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced dead at the scene.
No other injuries were immediately reported.
The CHP blocked the road for several hours during the investigation.
