Madera County, California (December 15, 2019) – Authorities have identified the person who was injured Thursday night in a three-vehicle crash involving a Madera County sheriff’s deputy in Madera County as Tobias Rubio, 22.

The accident happened at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday, December 12 at Avenue 12 and Road 34 1/2.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the Madera County sheriff’s deputy was driving eastbound Avenue 12 when for an undetermined reason, he failed to see a 1996 Dodge ahead of him and crashed into its rear.

The force impact caused the Dodge to slam into a 2016 Nissan Sentra that was traveling in front of them.

Tobias Rubio Injured in Three-Car Accident at Avenue 12 and Road 34 1/2 in Madera County

Rubio, who was in the Dodge, complained of leg pain after the crash. He was transported to Madera Community Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Nissan, Nicholas Post, 23, declined medical aid at the crash site. The deputy, whose name was not immediately disclosed, was uninjured.

All three cars sustained significant damage as a result of the crash.

Alcohol or drugs were not considered factors in the accident.

CHP is currently investigating the crash.
