Ting Leutmixay Seriously Injured in Fatal Crash on Interstate 5 in Tehama County

Tehama County, California (December 3, 2020) – Ting Leutmixay, 53, of Weed, was seriously injured after being involved in a deadly DUI crash Tuesday night in Tehama County.

The accident happened at around 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, December 1, in the northbound lane of Interstate 5, just south of Tehama Avenue.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder, driven by Mohammad Khesrawi, 52, of Lathrop, was heading northbound in the left lane when it crashed into the rear of a 2009 Subaru Forester, operated by Ea Douangaphay, 40, of Weed.

Due to the impact, the Subaru spun out of control and rolled over. A 64-year-old Weed woman who was riding as a back seat passenger in the Subaru was ejected from the vehicle.

Weed Woman Killed in Rear-End Collision in Tehama County

The weed woman died in the crash. Her name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.

Leutmixay, who was in the front seat of the Subaru, sustained major injuries and was transported to St. Elizabeth Community Hospital in Red Bluff.  Douangaphay sustained minor injuries and sought his own treatment.

Authorities determined that Khesrawi was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the accident. He was eventually arrested for DUI.

The accident remains under investigation.
