Timothy Johnston Arrested after Highland Car Accident at Palm and Nona Avenues
Highland, California (July 11, 2019) – 25-year-old Timothy Johnston has been arrested after a deadly collision Friday morning at an intersection in Highland, according to a California Highway Patrol dispatch.
The crash happened at around 6:30 a.m. Friday, July 5, at Palm and Nona avenues.
As per the report, Sheriff’s deputies in San Bernardino tried to pull over a BMW sedan, believed to be stolen, on Palm Avenue when Johnston, the driver, sped away north on Palm near 3rd Street. Police then pursued the suspect and the chase reached Highland City.
When Johnston reached the junction at Palm and Nona avenues, he lost control of his vehicle and finally slammed into a Toyota Tundra before crashing into a power pole.
Fatal Car Crash at Palm and Nona Avenues
The BMW flipped on its roof trapping a female party following the crash. Emergency crews extricated the victim before transporting her to the hospital where she later died.
It was not immediately known if the Tundra occupants suffered injuries in the crash.
Timothy hid in a nearby neighborhood and was located and arrested by authorities. He was taken to the hospital for treatment and was later booked to a county jail. He was facing charges of evading a peace officer, vehicular manslaughter and gross negligence, possession of a stolen vehicle, burglary and an unrelated warrant.
