84-Year-Old Theodora Karakouda Identified as Woman Killed in Redwood City Pedestrian Crash on El Camino Real

Redwood City, California (December 15, 2019) – The pedestrian who was struck and killed by a SamTrans bus on Thursday morning in Redwood City has been identified as Theodora Karakouda, 84, of Watertown, Massachusetts, according to the San Mateo County coroner’s office.

The deadly crash took place at about 8:45 a.m. December 12, on El Camino Real at James Avenue.

The bus was traveling southbound on El Camino Real when it struck Karakouda at the corner of the intersection.

Karakouda was killed in the crash.

None of the four passengers onboard the bus was injured.

El Camino Real was closed for nearly three hours as crews investigated the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
