19-year-old Teen Dies after Tulare Crash on Road 92 and Avenue 260
Tulare, California (July 25, 2021) – Authorities are investigating a Saturday night head-on collision that killed a 19-year-old teen and left one other party seriously injured in Tulare.
The deadly accident occurred at about 10:45 p.m., on July 24, on Road 92 and Avenue 260.
According to the police, Jerry Diaz Avila, 21 from Tulare, went northbound on Road 92 and crossed directly to an oncoming vehicle with a 19-year-old woman from Hanford in the passenger seat.
Unfortunately, Avila’s vehicle collided head-on on the pickup truck driven by the 19-year-old man from Visalia.
Due to the crash impact, the 19-year-old Visalia man was ejected onto the roadway, where he was pronounced dead.
A 19-year-old female passenger in Avila’s car was seriously injured in the accident.
Diaz was found to be under the influence of alcohol during the collision. He was booked in jail for drunk driving and manslaughter.
The crash remains under investigation.
