Stockton Woman Killed in DUI Crash on Highway 99 in Sacramento

Sacramento, California (May 3, 2021) – A Stockton woman was killed early Sunday morning in an alleged DUI crash in Sacramento, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The deadly crash occurred at about 3:46 a.m. Sunday, May 2, on Highway 99, just north of Twin Cities Road.

According to the CHP, a 37-year-old Stockton man was driving a 2002 Chevy Silverado southbound on Highway 99 at approximately 70 miles per hour when, for unknown reasons, he swerved to the left and slammed into a wood post-metal guardrail in the center divider.

The vehicle then traveled across two lanes and rolled into a dirt shoulder.

Deadly Solo-Car Crash in Sacramento

As the Silverado was overturning, the passenger, only identified as a 29-year-old Stockton woman, was ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name was being withheld pending notification of her relatives.

The driver was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of major injuries before being booked into the jail on felony DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

The crash remains under investigation.
