Stockton, CA: Fatal Head-On Crash on East Highway 99 in Morada, Feb. 10
Woman In Her 50s Killed, 3 Injured in Morada Car Accident on East Highway 99 Frontage Road from Morada Lane
Stockton, California (February 10, 2019) – A woman in her 50s was killed and three other people were injured Sunday afternoon in a head-on collision in northeast Stockton, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The horrific accident took place at around 12:40 p.m. on East Highway 99 Frontage Road from Morada Lane.
According to the CHP, a silver, older model Honda Accord was traveling northbound on East Highway 99 Frontage Road from Morada Lane at approximately 35 to 40 mph when it cut a right curve in the road and instead went straight into the southbound lane and collided head-on with a southbound Subaru Forester that was traveling at about the same speed.
The CHP said there were no skid marks on the dry pavement behind the Honda, indicating the Honda driver may not have braked before the collision.
The woman, who was a passenger in the Honda, died in the crash. Her name has not been disclosed pending identification and notification of her relatives.
The Honda driver was taken by ambulance to an area trauma hospital with moderate to serious injuries. Two other passengers in the Honda sustained minor injuries and were also taken to an area hospital.
The occupants of the Subaru, believed to be a family of three including one child, were unhurt. All parties in both vehicles were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
Alcohol or drugs were not considered factors in the crash.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
