Steven Wilkins ID’d as Man Killed in Highway 58 Crash near Highway 99 in Bakersfield

Bakersfield, California (January 3, 2019) – The man who was killed in a fatal collision that happened Sunday evening on Highway 58 in Bakersfield has been identified by the coroner’s office.
Steven Ray Wilkins, 33, died in the wreck that happened at about 6:32 p.m. December 30, in the westbound lanes of the Highway 58 Connector to northbound Highway 99.
CHP said Wilkins was driving a silver Ford at a high rate of speed when he clipped a Subaru before colliding with a Honda. The Acura then rotated and crashed with a Dodge pickup truck.
Wilkins was pronounced dead at the scene. It’s unclear whether there were other injuries.
CHP said alcohol and drugs were unlikely factors in the incident.
The crash remains under investigation.
