Steve Ibarra ID’d as Pedestrian Killed in Bakersfield Crash on Highway 58 near Hughes Lane
Bakersfield, California (December 18, 2020) – Authorities have identified the pedestrian who died after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday night in Bakersfield as Steve Alejandro Ibarra, 28, of Walnut.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly accident was reported shortly after 11:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 16 on Highway 58, just east of Hughes Lane.
Authorities said Ibarra was running across traffic lanes when he was struck by an SUV that was heading westbound on Highway 58.

Ibarra was pronounced dead at the scene.
The westbound lanes along Highway 58 were closed for several hours as the investigation took place.
The crash remains under investigation.
